Roughly 5 million Americans have been infected with the virus that causes hepatitis C. Whether they realize it or not, they all need information, medical care, and support. Fortunately, several organizations offer valuable resources for people with hepatitis C. If you've been diagnosed with the disease -- or even if you just want to learn more -- these organizations are definitely worth checking out.

American Liver Foundation

The American Liver Foundation is the premier organization dedicated to helping patients with all types of liver disease, including hepatitis C. The foundation funds research, promotes awareness of liver disease, and provides many services for patients. For example, the foundation can answer your questions about hepatitis C, refer you to a qualified physician, and help you find a nearby support group.

Hep-C Alert

The mission of this visually appealing site, which seems especially oriented toward baby boomers, is to raise public awareness of hepatitis C and to aid people affected by the virus. Founded as a nonprofit in 1997, Hep-C Alert includes a rich library of news stories and updates.
